What to expect at the new patient visit

Your first visit generally includes a thorough medical history, and examination. Based on the evaluation the doctor will formulate a diagnosis and recommend treatment options. The treatment plan which you and your doctor have chosen will be outlined in detail. A patient's symptoms can vary with age, season, environment, diet, stress and general health. Based on all of these factors as well as any other pertinent information, we will work to design a treatment program which results in the most effective therapy for your medical needs. Our goal is to arrive at a treatment plan which allows you to take control of asthma and allergy issues and breathe easier.

You may not be allergy tested on the same day as your first visit. Possible delays include medications that you may be taking that interfere with skin test results, insurance restrictions, scheduling conflicts, or other reasons.

At this time there is minimal wait for new patient appointments.

We act as consultants to your primary care doctor and as such generally do not provide primary care or hospitalize patients (although we do, on occasion, see hospitalized patients if the primary care doctor formally asks us to do so).

We work with multiple plans from many different insurance companies. Every effort is made to get referrals from your primary care doctor or insurance for visits and procedures. Please be aware that the final responsibility for these referrals and payments rest with you.

Most insurance companies now require that a co-payment be paid at the time of service. We cannot waive this requirement as it would be a violation of our insurance contracts.

Things to keep in mind when coming for an appointment

Perfumes and Colognes

Since many of the patients at the Allergy Clinic of Tulsa are sensitive to chemicals and odors, we request that you do not wear perfumes, colognes, or use scented lotion while at the Allergy Clinic

Food

Since some of the patients at the Allergy Clinic of Tulsa have severe food allergies, we ask that you do not bring any food into the waiting room or examination room.

Appointment Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance so we can make the slot available for someone else. Failure to inform the Allergy Clinic of Tulsa of a cancellation within 24 hours will result in a cancellation fee.
