Environmental Testing

The Aeroallergen Rotorod Sampler volumetrically samples airborne pollen, fungal spore materials, dust dander, lint and other particulate on a repeating cycle basis. This provides an integrated sample representative of the average concentration over a given period of time.

Clear acrylic collector rods, which provide the substrate for collection, are coated with a thin layer of silicone grease to enhance retention of the impacted particles. When sampling is completed, the rods are removed and the slide is mounted for staining and microscopic examination by a certified technologist.

The gravity plate (Mold Plate) is exposed to complement the total picture of air quality reading.

Allergists are concerned not only with the physical aspect of patients but also with environmental factors that could compound their illness. By recognizing and identifying the aggravating factors these can most often be removed and then the patient’s response to treatment may be more quickly noticeable.

Our technologist who reads and interprets the tests is certified by the National Allergy Bureau of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. This organization has been established to provide high quality standards in pollen and mold identification.
