David S. Hurewitz, M.D.
Dr. David Hurewitz, a native Philadelphian, received his Bachelor of Arts and Medical Degree from Temple University. He joined the Allergy Clinic of Tulsa, Inc. in 1975.
He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Allergy/Clinical Immunology. He trained at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and Tulane University Division/Charity Hospital of Louisiana in New Orleans for medicine and National Jewish Hospital and Research Center in Denver, Colorado for allergy. After training, he served as Staff Allergist at the United States Naval Hospital in San Diego, California.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. He is a member and past-president of the Oklahoma Allergy and Asthma Society. He is also a member of the Tulsa County Medical Society, Oklahoma State Medical Association, and American Medical Association.
He is a board member of the American Lung Association of Oklahoma, an organization with which he has been affiliated since first coming to Tulsa, participating in teaching workshops and lectures. He has also served on its Medical Advisory Committee. He, along with the other physicians in the practice, actively volunteers for the Neighbors Along the Line program.
He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center – Tulsa, where he directed an adult allergy clinic for a number of years. He and his associates use their office as a teaching module for medicine, pediatric, and family practice Residents for both the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine and Oklahoma State University School of Osteopathy. He has co-authored several articles in his field.
He has been married to Vicki for many years and has two children and two grandchildren. Other than his family, his passion is for music. He is an accomplished musician of the clarinet, saxophone, and bass clarinet.
